Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect if I visit The River?
We appreciate the opportunity to worship with you and to get to know you and we hope you feel welcomed and accepted. We gather together at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday mornings at The Rex Cinema in downtown Chaska. Our service combines contemporary worship music, fellowship, and a Biblical message fom the Word of God. You can find out what Pastor Rob is preaching about each week by simply scrolling over the Sunday on our calendar parge. During the sermon time, the children break off into another theater for their own teaching time.
Is this church part of any denomination?
Yes. We are affiliated with a denomination called the Christian and Missionary Alliance, or often shortened to ‘The Alliance’ or ‘The CMA’. There are numerous other Alliance churches in the area, including churches in Excelsior, Waconia, St. Bonifacius, Norwood Young America, and Belle Plaine. Additionally, Crown College in St. Bonifacius is affiliated with the CMA. For more information about the CMA, visit the national website or our district website.
What do you believe?
To find out more about what we believe you can check out the CMA statement of faith. The River Church is a safe place to ask questions, to wonder, to disagree, and to grow and journey together.
What do people typically wear?
The River is definitely a, “come as you are” kind of place. You can be comfortable in jeans or shorts, or in a sportcoat. There is no dress code and everyone is welcome.
What is the worship style?
Our worship is mostly contemporary. We begin our worship service with about 20-25 minutes of worship music. Our goal is for that time to be a time of worshipping the Lord in Spirit and in Truth and a time of experiencing God. We invite everyone to “taste and see that the Lord is good.”
What about kids?
We have a nursery for our youngest kids and then Kid City for our preschool and elementary age children. We currently do not have any special progams for our youth, but they are more than welcome in our regular service. During the summer Kid City will be on hiatus, but we are planning to kick our children’s ministry back into full gear in the fall.
